Oftentimes it is not the actual events in our lives that cause us the most damage but how we think about these events. When something bad happens, many times we begin to instantly feel bad about it and our internal dialogue starts replaying the event.
Sometimes we tell ourselves any number of negative things about the event. We call ourselves stupid. We tell ourselves it won’t get any better. We retrace the situation in our minds over and over.
Each time we do replay the event in our mind, it seems to feel and seem worse.
Be careful what you consistently think about because these thoughts, dreams, desires, fears, and emotions are what is programming your subconscious mind.
If you notice, people who have a tendency to talk and think negatively almost always have lives full of drama and disarray. It’s no coincidence. Life was designed this way.
Some call it the law of attraction, some call it magic, and others just call it luck. But I believe it’s something we can actually control if we develop small habits around being easier on myself.
I believe this might be what “free will” actually is – the ability to control how you think and feel.
Please be kind to yourself. It pays massive life-changing dividends.
I understand that not everything will go my way and I understand not every day is going to be a good one. On the days where I feel the most disappointment, I will remember that I possess many very special gifts as a human. One of these gifts is free will.
I have what it takes to shape my life as I desire because I have the power to use free will in order to change my mindset and control my inner-dialogue. At any time.
Free will isn’t just a choice – it’s a birthright. And I intend to own mine.
