Nearly every religion or belief system has some version of the “do unto others” golden rule inbuilt. Behave toward someone else as you would like them to behave toward you. What you do to another, you do to yourself. Do as you will but harm none. Many other catchy one-liners exist.
We see the same thing in many other one-liners like “every good turn deserves another” and this mysterious thing many call “The Butterfly Effect”; but what does it even mean?
We sit and contemplate the importance of faith and doing good things for others but few rarely answer the call when the phone rings. In the end, words, religions, faith, and good will mean nothing if you don’t put forth the action to help others.
Many of us defend our morals and our beliefs, but so few actively engage them. Many talk about saving the environment but few actually live an eco-friendly lifestyle. We speak out against killing livestock but still leave nothing to desire when ordering from the restaurant menu.
Now, more than ever in history, it is important to not only have morals, beliefs, and a righteous attitude; you must act on it, defend it, and hold it close. It is up to you to become the change you want to see in the world. Nothing is going to come easy; nothing important in history ever has.
Reach out to help someone. Truly be your brother’s keeper. Create your own small butterfly effect in your local community around the great and wonderful things you believe in. Open a non profit. Donate time to your church. Visit a shelter and sit with people for a little while. Just do the deed.
If filming it makes you feel good, then film it. Whatever it takes to make it happen.
We can start something big, and it starts with you.
