We can achieve nothing in this life if we don’t first try. Too many people are looking for a quick fix, a fast solution, a non working work day, and my favorite, the classic “waiting for my ship to come in”. There is no magical boat that is going to come. There is no magic carpet. No genie. No winning lottery tickets with your name on it. No trust funds. Nothing at all is owed to you by the world.
Never put weight on the opinions of those who aren’t directly involved in your life.
Oftentimes, those who we consider lucky are simply those individuals who were willing to take a chance on an idea, take a chance on themselves, take a chance at failure, and are willing to do what it takes. These people tend to listen to the voices of their soul, not the opinions of others.
Too many times do we talk ourselves out of doing something that we’d really enjoy simply because we’re scared to take a chance – to take the risk – that goes along with stepping outside of comfort zones. We get convinced there is little chance we’ll succeed. We listen to the opinions of losers. We listen to naysayers. We listen to relatives. We ask people on social media. We create polls asking total strangers if we should do the things we want to do. All of this is a distraction.
We often talk ourselves out of the opportunities that matter most because we are convinced we couldn’t succeed. If you aren’t willing to cast your line, you’ll never once catch a fish.
Will your soul grow if you aren’t willing to feed it? Take a chance on yourself.
I will try harder to allow myself exploration of things I might normally pass up because I am scared or think I might not be good at it. I will stop doubting things before I even try them.
Today, I will look for an opportunity I may otherwise ignore and take a chance on it.
Anything worth doing in life takes a little bit of practice.
My life is worth practicing for.
